There is stuff happening all over the joint. The intersections of Los Angeles are jammed with people living in one part of town trying to get to an event on the other side of town. It makes for a great mix. It can also lead to multiple paths of absurdity.
Not that Tofu is absurd. No Tofu hating here it is just that for the life of me I can't cook the stuff. I want to, it would be good for me to back up on the meat flow. Cooking tofu is not in my cultural culinary skill set.
So off to the festival. This is what walking around felt like to me in about two minutes time.
Did I have any Tofu? Well, yes and no.
I did try the Tofu & Turkey meatballs. They were fine. But it was really hot on San Pedro. I spent my time sucking lime flavored shaved ice.
The vocal stylings are from Arthur's One Man Band who was performing on 3rd and San Pedro. He was not officially a part of the Tofu Festival but he gave a powerfully enthusiastic rendition of “La Vida Loca” with a Asian twist.
There is no reason to stay home and watch regurgitated TV. If you get the chance get out there and connect with corporeal flesh and blood. I am sometimes guided by the echos of Auntie Mame who said "life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death!"
Later, I gotta go find me some Ketchup.
I was at this festival! I'm so sad it's now defunct. I was actually photographed buying a parasol by the LA Times. So random. Lots of good food!
